Seagrass


Weaving in Thailand has history and local identities. Local knowledge is accumulated from their ancestors. Specifically, existing knowledge has been passed down through the generations where Seagrass is found naturally in the community environment. For example, selecting which Seagrass to be harvested is considered according to the age and the length of Seagrass. The prime time for harvesting is after the rainy season in which Seagrass plants are tall, durable and can be flattened and stripped with ease. In addtion, different group sizes of Seagrass are appropriate to different type of handicrafts. Consequently, these masterpiece work is the accommulation of local resources and ingenuity with modern knowledge.
