How to care Wicker handbags

 

First step for cleaning any type of bag

  • Firstly, emptying all pocket and remove the decoration of the bag and shake well upside down to remove dirt and trash. Use a lint roller to capture dust and crumbs.
  • Using the fabric brush attachment on a vacuum to tackle the interior such as straw finishes 
  • Examine the bag for type of materials used

 

Straw and Seagrass Handbag and Basket Care

  • Best to keep it indoors, out of bright sunlight, and in air-conditioned or dehumidified rooms. Avoiding high humidity area which can cause the woven fiber swell and distort. Also, too dry area can cause the woven straw brittle and prone to damage
  • To prevent dust, better store woven straw handbag in cotton bag than plastic bag since most material need to breath, temperature change can cause humidity to build up.
  • In case, it gets wet, hurry wipe and air dry, ensuring the fiber is no longer in humid.
  • Woven straw cleaning, vacuum cleaner is the best way to keep them dust and grime free. Using upholstery brush or possibly use an old panty hose place over the nozzle and use a rubber band to hold it in place.
  • To remove stains, using an old toothbrush dip it in the soap and water mixture. Gently rub the stained area following the grain of the straw. Then, wipe the area with a clean white cloth to remove any soap residue and air dry it.
  • To keep the woven straw bag in shape, stuff bag with paper when not in use.
  • Do not hang. Store upright or lie flat to preserve shape.

  • Do not hang. Store upright or lie flat to preserve shape.
  • Finding mold or mildew on your basketry. Possibly to remove it carefully by using a mixture of bleach and water and gently rub it by damp soft cloth. However, not recommend to do it for delicate hand painted motifs.
